The movie is about how the civilization collapses under its own life style, that promotes the overconsumption and depends of the unsustainable energies, mainly the fossils fuels.

of natural recourses and the environment pollution generate changes in the
global climate; the planet warms up and with it, diverse natural catastrophes to
wreak around the world: hurricanes, drought, famine and diseases flog the
population.

The story of the film show us is a fiction, but it has characteristics of the reality that are alarming, related to the economic systems that govern the society, and the form in which these affect irreparably the nature.
Step by step the world is changing. With “little” events; the bird’s
migration lead, diverse species change their habitat to other latitudes, the
climate catastrophes are stronger and more frequents.
Despite efforts
of many brilliant persons for try to repair the enormous damage caused to the
nature, the bigger part of the world population don´t have nothing to amend their
lifestyles.
Gradually, the damage is more evident. The drought and the famine
increase. The few sustainable
cities become in centers
of attraction for the masses
of desperate people. The diseases
and plagues do not slow in coming…
The way in which
the event happen in the movie can seem to be very rapid, maybe too much that it
happens in only 100 years, but who says that it is not happening right now?
Personallity, I think there is still time to do something for the planet and as future geographer that I am, this issue
has always been important to me, but while true
international efforts fail to reduce pollution,
and as the world population continue to
grow at current rates, a scenario
like the movie will be presented
sooner or later.
A movie to think in the eviromental topic, because as it is begged by
the protagonist “lucy” in her final words, is a time to be aware and make a
change to protect our most precious treasure.

1. One of scenes that impressed me was the metaphor
of the frog on the pot: on not having perceived the slight changes of
temperature in the water, the frog did not move, until it died boiled. The same
thing passes with the humanity; the changes happen even that not perceived…
2. Other interesting point to me was the way of they represent the migration of species to new habitat. The example shown in the movie, is the case of the cubans insects that arrive to Miami because of the climatic change.
